About Us

The New York State Jewelers Association was founded in 1909 to foster, promote and protect the welfare of the jewelers in New York State. With over 700 members from Montauk to Buffalo, the NYSJA represents the top retailers, designers, suppliers and manufacturers in New York City—the jewelry capital of the world.

The NYSJA offers many advantageous benefits to its’ members (look for a more detailed list under the Membership Tab). One of the most significant benefits is the networking opportunities at the Area Meetings. Meetings are held throughout the state during the year, so that local members and their employees can attend without having to travel. The meetings are interactive educational seminars with topics such as “Holiday Selling”; “Smooth Selling” and how to handle sensitive PR issues. Techniques for determining customer needs and wants, handling customer objections, and building rapport with the customer are all presented in detail and with question and answer sessions.  Store Security is also a topic that is thoroughly discussed at the meetings as well as in each issue of The E-Newsletter , the NYSJA’s news forum which is distributed several times throughout the year.

The NYSJA hosts an elegant Annual Awards Dinner during the July JA New York Trade show. Nominees are solicited from the membership for the following awards: Favorite Sales Representative; Favorite Watch Sales Representative, Favorite Advertising Sales Representative and Favorite Jewelry Store. The Awards are then presented at the Awards Dinner. All members and their employees are encouraged to attend and support the Awards Dinner which also boasts a Silent Auction. The proceeds from the auction are used to help fund the NYSJA Scholarship program as well as the Educational Area Meetings and the organization.

The NYSJA prides itself on being an active member-based organization. Input from the membership is solicited and encouraged. The web site re-design has been developed using input from membership suggestions. We are constantly working to keep the organization growing and developing. The NYSJA is dedicated to supporting the jewelry industry by encouraging members to apply for scholarships to continue their jewelry education, and by providing educational seminars.
